Breeding Calculator
Pick two parents to see the exact child, or pick a target child and get every parent pair that produces it. Runs the game's real v1.0 algorithm over 262 breedable Pals, including all 136 special combos and the correct tie-breaking - the same engine as the Companion for Palworld app.
The interactive calculator needs JavaScript. Everything it knows is also on this page below: the exact breeding rules and the full special-combo table.
How breeding works in Palworld
The exact rules the game (and this calculator) uses - no approximations.
Put a male and a female Pal in the Breeding Farm with a Cake and they produce an egg. Which species hatches is fully deterministic: every breedable Pal has a hidden combi rank (in v1.0 they run from 30 to 3080 - lower means rarer and generally stronger), and the child is decided by the parents' average rank:
child rank = floor((rank A + rank B + 1) / 2)
- Closest rank wins. The child is the Pal in the generic breeding pool whose combi rank is closest to that target.
- Ties go up. If two Pals are exactly the same distance away, the game picks the one with the higher combi rank (most third-party calculators get this backwards). If two Pals somehow share a rank, the lower Paldex number wins.
- Same species breeds true. Two Lamballs average to Lamball's own rank, so the child is always a Lamball. The same holds for every species.
- Special combos override everything. 136 fixed cross-species recipes plus 121 self-recipes (both below) ignore the rank formula: a specific pair always produces a specific child.
- Variants are special-only. Elemental and regional variants (the "B" Paldex entries like Mossanda Lux) are excluded from the generic pool - the rank formula can never produce one. You get them only from their special combo or by pairing two of them.
- Gender-locked recipes exist. Katress + Wixen is the only pairing where the parents' genders decide the child: male Katress + female Wixen gives Wixen Noct; female Katress + male Wixen gives Katress Ignis.
- Legendaries only breed true. Jetragon, Frostallion, Necromus, Paladius and their kin have no combi rank at all - two of the same species is the only pairing that works.
Worked example
Lamball (rank 3050) +
Cattiva (rank 2760):
floor((3050 + 2760 + 1) / 2) = 2905
The closest breedable rank decides the child. That lands exactly between ranks 2900 and 2910 - a distance tie - and the game resolves ties to the higher combi rank, so rank 2910 wins. Result:
Daedream (rank 2910).
Everything on this page - ranks, pools, special combos and the calculator itself - is extracted from the v1.0 game files and runs the same algorithm as the game.
All 136 special combos
Fixed recipes that override the rank formula. Parent order does not matter in-game except for the two gender-locked Katress/Wixen rows.
Breeds true only (121 Pals)
Each of these has a fixed self-recipe: two of the same species always produce that species. For legendaries, event Pals and most variants this (or a special combo above) is the only way to hatch one.
