Assign Pals to the Lab and their accumulated work of a given type (Kindling, Handiwork, Cooling...) completes research nodes along that type's prerequisite chain.
Most nodes grant a permanent base-wide stat boost - crafting speed, bonus products, expedition rewards - while 10 of them unlock a technology instead. Nodes marked Essential gate later nodes in their chain.
